Chris is a Partner with the law firm of Drewry Simmons Vornehm, LLP, where he focuses his practice in the areas of labor and employment law and litigation and construction law and litigation. On the construction side, Chris represents a variety of participants in the construction industry, including public and private owners, general and prime contractors and subcontractors. Chris assists his clients in all types of project delivery systems and performance and payment disputes, including project delays and impacts, defaults, and mechanic’s liens, as well as contract drafting and negotiations. He also has experience representing businesses in a variety of employment issues including general employment counseling, hiring, discipline and termination, drafting employee handbooks, personnel policies and employment contracts (including non-competition agreements), handling EEOC and related claims, and instruction on wage and hour compliance. Chris also has experience representing businesses in labor issues concerning grievances, unfair labor practices, bannering and striking issues, alter ego/successor liability, and wage and hour disputes. Chris is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association (where he served on the Executive Committee and is a Past Chair of the Labor & Employment Section), the Indiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a past participant in the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry Trial Academy. Chris is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), an invitation-only, peer-reviewed organization of 2,500 attorneys from around the world. Within IADC, Chris serves on the IADC Foundation Board of Directors. Chris also served as a Faculty Member for the IADC’s 49th Annual Trial Academy. He is the Past Chair of the Construction Law and Litigation Committee, and he is also a member of the Employment Law and Litigation Committee. Additionally, Chris is a Past Chair of the Construction Law section of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana (DTCI), and he is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI).Chris is also an active member in various trade associations, including the Indianapolis Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. (ABC), the Associated General Contractors (AGC) and AGC of Indiana, the Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS), the Indiana Constructors, Inc. (ICI) and the Indiana Subcontractors Association (ISA).
