I am the Sr. product manager for Residential HVAC at NEEA with 20+ years of experience evaluating emerging technologies in the energy efficiency and solar energy fields. My mission is to accelerate the decolonization of our energy system and empower others to be part of this profound change.My current area of expertise is in heat pumps for residential space conditioning. Increasing use of variable speed drives, flash injection, micro channel heat exchangers, microprocessor controls and connected diagnostics gets me fired up. The current range of products are largely differentiated by inadequate performance metrics (e.g HSPF, SEER, Tons of capacity) and vague descriptors (e.g. cold climate, smart) that make it difficult to ensure an installed system delivers in-field performance.While not at work I enjoy cycling, hiking, cooking breakfast and working on a small coastal forest inhabited by the Alsea tribe for more than 8000 years.
