Hey! I'm Chris the founder of Urban Beard and here's my story. In the summer of 2013 I grew my first ever beard after noticing an uptrend in bearded dudes around Toronto. The first time I ever tried to give my beard a good clean was after a long days work of physical labour. I used whatever we had lying around the bathroom at the time, which was a generic hair shampoo and conditioner. I remember getting out of the shower afterwards and almost immediately my beard felt dehydrated and wiry, like the moisture had been sapped right out of it! I thought to myself, "this cannot be good for your beard."Apparently, I wasn't the only one. After a deep dive into Google and Reddit, I discovered thousands of guys with questions like “where can I buy beard stuff” and “how to make my beard less dry,” with virtually no answers. That's when I realized there was a growing need (no pun intended) for beard products in Canada. There and then I decided I was going to start my new venture of creating a beard grooming company. I wanted to create a company that used natural ingredients and not the moisture sapping chemicals used in standard hair care products. A company aimed at the modern man who wanted to look after his beard and add to his individualism & style. A company for the bearded city dweller, like the guys walking about town that prompted me to notice an uptrend in beards in the first place. A company aimed at guys like...well like myself. "Urban Beard" seems like a fitting name. "I'll call it Urban Beard."So, Urban Beard was born.We make all of our products in-house. Handcrafted original recipes designed by my team. Our ingredients are all natural, locally sourced and handmade in small batches. Oils are chosen specifically for their softening, strengthening and antibacterial properties, which help promote beard growth while reducing dry, flaky skin and beard itch.Our mission? To provide education and premium products at a reasonable price, to the thousands of urban beards across Canada.
