IAG is the parent company of a general insurance group with operations in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.My key responsibilities included:• Data collection and cleansing from the various business units (with use of Microsoft Excel and SAS).• Catastrophe modelling for a range of business units across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia pacific region including personal and a range of commercial lines in Australia and New Zealand, as well as Asian businesses in India, China and Indonesia.• Working on underwriting projects to improve quality of data for internal business purposes and external stakeholders including significant improvement of risk profiles and more detailed breakdown of reinsurance costs to business units.• Advanced experience of catastrophe and reinsurance modelling software (such as RMS and AIR) including use of back end databases using Microsoft SQL.• Modelling of individual ISR accounts to help underwriters better quantify potential reinsurance costs for that account.• Communication with underwriters to discuss modelling data and information requirements, questions regarding modelling assumptions and communication of results.• Writing reports and presentations to teach key stakeholders about catastrophe modelling and present results of modelling (using Microsoft Word and Power point).
