Mr. Engel is the Global Director of Direct Material Procurement for Quaker Houghton. Strategic Procurement is where Chris has found his calling. The balance of commercial and technical competence required, the strategic nature of contract management, the complexity of supply chain management, eliminating risk, purchasing for best value, global raw materials forecasting, and internal communication are all parts of the job that he enjoys.He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from The University of Michigan, a M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Detroit Mercy and an MBA from the University of Detroit -Mercy On a personal level, Chris lives in Gates Mills, OH with his wife Judith, and dog, Hazel, who is his hiking companion. His three young-adult children; Tobias, Margareta and Hans are all working or in college. His hobbies and interests include volunteering, travel, reading, and anything outdoors like skiing, hiking and being at the lake.Chris is on the Board of Directors at Youth Opportunities Unlimited (https://www.youthopportunities.org) a Cleveland-based nonprofit organization that supports teens and young adults as they first enter the job market. Chris is a member at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Gates Mills Ohio and for years, has enjoyed coaching CYO athletics and judging science fair.
