Madison Middle School

I have taught sections of 8th-grade level math and high school credit algebra I. My teaching focused on academic vocabulary, using multiple techniques to solve problems, and work-shopping problems as a whole class. I also taught a math advisory in which students received one-on-one help with math homework and projects. Students used various digital resources in my classes for homework, notes, digital labs, and resource storage. These included Khan Academy, Desmos, Google Classroom, Socrative, and GeoGebra. I also sent out regular classroom and student updates to guardians.Now I teach science for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I adapt several different resources (print and online) to develop curricula focused on real-world application of science concepts. Roosevelt Middle School

I taught 7th grade mathematics and life science as well as math intervention. I utilized various teaching methods including labs, virtual labs, direct instruction, and projects with an emphasis on in-class group work. I sent weekly parent updates as well as homework emails to parents which included video recorded solutions to math homework. I also spent time keeping minutes for the instructional council and co-leading a year long book study for 7th grade teachers.2016/17: 7th Grade Team Leader

As a substitute teacher I administered lessons in a 7th grade math/ science class on multiple occasions. These lessons included direct instruction, group work, use of a Promethean Board, and virtual labs.

I did my student teaching at Roosevelt Middle School working in a 7th grade combined math/ life science classroom. I co-taught with my cooperating teacher as well as making and teaching lesson plans of my own for both the math and the life science. I helped organize the 7th grade inquiry project for the year and participated with various field trips.
