Principal Safety Manager
CurrentDrives the Safety Committee and conducts safety related programs as requested by the committee. Also participates as a member of various other safety related sub-committees. Prepares monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.Develops, implements, and maintains hazardous waste management program in accordance with federal, state, and municipal regulations. Maintains SDS and documentation as required. Works closely with Employee Health and Security to conduct investigations of selected employee job related injuries resulting from possible unsafe working environment and/or equipment to comply with established safe work practices. Conducts employee update training programs, safety information and distributes education material on an ongoing basis. Reviews hospital Safety, Fire, Hazardous Materials and Emergency Management manuals, incorporating changes as required by OSHA, JCAHO, etc. Interfaces with all federal, state, and municipal agencies concerning all environmental health standards and workplace safety. Develops and maintains updated information related to NFPA Life Safety Codes, as well as, JCAHO's Environment of Care Programs and OSHA regulations. Provides current information to those affected by these regulations. Establishes a regular inspection program of clinical and administrative areas to identify safety hazards and follow up on hazard abatement. Conducts investigations of accidents resulting from improperly stored flammable or toxic materials and documents same, also maintains documentation of all inspections to comply with JCAHO and to avoid recurrences.
