Responsible for the day-to-day operations at Solana Generating Station, including leadership and guidance aligned with Abengoa Solar’ mission, vision, and strategy. Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operation of Abengoa’s assets and develops safe work processes and procedures, ensuring that Operations activities are in compliance with all applicable company and regulatory requirements. Ensures that operation and maintenance activities are performed efficiently and in accordance with company goals to ensure consistency, quality, and cost effectiveness. Responsible for hiring, developing, training, and evaluation of all employees in Operations. Coordinates activities with the appropriate personnel and cooperates and works closely with peers, human resources and management to ensure effective operations of the team. Promotes safety through actions and behaviors in support of an incident and injury-free work environment. Participates and leads daily safety meetings with all departments at Solana including monthly ERT (fire brigade) team training. Identifies and reports safety hazards, observes all safety requirements, and actively strives to provide a safe work environment for employees. Assists with purchasing of parts and materials for projects and daily maintenance activities including outage preparation. Assists in conducting field audits/assessments to identify safety hazards and ensure compliance with company O&M, EHS, Engineering & Construction, and Corrosion Control standards, procedures, and best practices. Ensures compliance with local state and federal regulations. Assists in the development and review of O&M procedures including temporary (TOI/TMOD) abnormal operating condition procedures and instructions to ensure employee safety, plant reliability and equipment integrity. Monitors services provided by third party vendors to maintain company standards and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Power plant operations: operate a 820 kpph B&W coal fired boiler, a 350 kpph B&W fuel oil/natural gas fired boiler, and a 230 kpph Alstom fuel oil/natural gas fired boiler. Operation of two turbine generators including a 26 MW Westinghouse and a 44 MW General Electric and all associated auxiliary equipment. Oversee and coordinate the safe and efficient generation of steam and electricity and all associated auxiliaries and operations within the power plant area. Responsible as team leader for the safety of personnel, integrity of all equipment and the efficiency of power plant operations. Offer guidance/direction and the training of personnel. Ensure proper Lockout/Tagout andConfined Space Entry procedures are followed. Operate and manage the mill emergency phone system, guiding the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to emergencies mill wide.
