I have been working at Jersey Mike’s since late 2022. This is my first job in the workforce, and I have climbed my way to the top employees now. They are the ones who know what needs to be done at a given time and who can slice cold subs. I am also the primary closer at the location who cleans the store and preps for tomorrow morning for the opener. It is a massive achievement to reach in very little time of 6 months. My experience with the job taught me how to speak with customers, employees, and what is expected of a job. I remember the first evening shift I started, my coworker asked to get a soda from the fridge. As soon as I got it for him I started to open it right in front of him, I quickly learned its for an online order. Now, I am slicing sandwiches in front of customers, teaching employees, conversating with my fellow coworkers to get to know them, and being on the grill often as well. The most valuable lesson I learned, its ok to act casual in a work environment, just be yourself.
