I have been integral in building and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients, providing reports to each one at the end of the day or week and ensuring that any existing processes from their business are successfully integrated for our staff to use. I have helped design new processes to streamline the company function and took a lead role in training and mentoring new apprentices and staff. I have organised team meetings, taken the minutes and produced detailed records that were issued to all attendees. My duties also included setting up telephone lines for each client and completing the call registrations of new candidates for the largest client, a payroll company. This required an excellent telephone manner and precision to ensure that all data was captured correctly. It also required excellent communication and data entry skills to overcome communication barriers such as language and to ensure all information is captured accurately to prevent errors. I have also been heavily involved in the production of written content to be used on company websites, social media pages as well as flyers and leaflets. I also proofread and edited official company documents, including client forms and terms and conditions before they were sent out to the clients. I also had input in the creation of the company house style as well as the design and layout of all marketing materials. Show less -

I am responsible delivering presentations to mixed age groups numbering anywhere between ten and fifty people, presenting information on a range of subjects, including University life and what to consider when applying, student finance, personal statements and conducting campus tours for school or college visits and Open Days. I also travel regularly to external institutions across the West Midlands for a variety of activities including one-to-one advice and guidance as well as personal statement drop-ins, once again ensuring that I represent the University in the best possible light.I also attended HE Fairs, UCAS, What Uni? Live and UK University Search events across the country, bringing the same proactive and professional nature to these major events and assisting in their planning and execution. I assist in maintaining effective relationships with external school and college staff to help boost current recruitment levels in line with strategies devised by senior Directorate staff as well as updating current materials for use by myself and other staff and passing on any useful information gathered from events to my line manager. When required I have also assisted on other projects such as Aspire2Uni and Children's University, delivering sessions to these target groups in order to encourage their interest in Higher Education. I was required to be well-informed about life in the Higher Education system, including knowing about funding, basic accommodation knowledge, part-time or full-time work and study, as well as opportunities given by the University or course staff and facilities like the Careers Office, Workplace and SU. I was often required to manage large, mixed groups, in both the taster sessions and the at the stall, responsible for dealing with every query as an ambassador for the University, with politeness, accuracy and depth. I was responsible for assisting lecturers with taster sessions, sometimes delivering the opening statements myself. Other times I was responsible for remaining at the School of Humanities stall to signpost visitors to whichever taster session they wanted to attend or answer questions from any potential latecomers. I was often left in charge during these taster sessions and when lecturers took lunch, sometimes having to signpost visitors towards those who dealt with administrative queries. The role required flexibility in knowledge about all Humanities courses, particularly those that involved inter-disciplinary modules or useful combinations for Joint Honours degrees. In connection with this role, I was asked to show potential students around the University at the request of Dr. Frank Wilson and Lucy Naylor, both of whom i have worked with on Open Days. This required much the same knowledge as the Open Day, it merely had to be delivered in a more directed manner. Show less -

It was expected that we operate with the highest level of professionalism as the machines were dangerous and could be broken quite easily. It was a high-pressure environment due to the short-term nature of the contract and it was expected at the very least that the targets set by management and RM Education were met, which were often exceeded. Flexibility was key in this role, as workload depended upon deliveries and these could be irregular, it was expected that we could not only perform to a high standard in our assigned team but in all roles; warehouse, preparation and scanning. As a returning employee, it was also expected that I be able to meet set targets much sooner than my colleagues and be able to train them in all the previously listed aspects of the role. Almost immediately after returning to this role, it was requested by the line and site managers that I would provide training to new staff members in order for them to reach set targets quickly. It was my role to move around the class, assisting students with their learning by guiding them towards the answer without actually providing it for them, save in a handful of cases where it was not possible to aid without providing the answers. I would also help the Year Ten and Eleven English students develop their classwork and subject abilities for their pending GCSE examinations, helping them develop their Creative Writing and Speaking and Listening for the English Language exam whilst simultaneously helping develop their ability to analyse prose, poetry and drama for their Literature exam. My experience in Maths was primarily with Years Eight and Ten, helping both Years better understand and become more confident in a variety of topics and I was part of the invigilating staff for the Year Ten's Mock Exam at the end of December. In this role, I worked with a wide variety of students classified as SEN primarily due to language barriers, from a variety of ethnic and economic backgrounds, each with different confidence levels and abilities. It was a highly pressurized environment, we were expected to work diligently and most importantly, we were held responsible for handling cash payments and collecting the money from the tills to be kept in the main office's safe. Bar staff were held responsible for any drinks poured poorly, informing the team leader and leaving it to the side so it could be recorded in each individual bar's record book. Experienced staff were required to show new bar staff the ropes, explain to them what to do if a customer became aggressive and how to operate the till, as well as ensuring they knew where every pump and spirit bottle was and what beverages were available for customers. I was also required to clean and restock the bar at the beginning and end of every shift to ensure it was prepared for the next event. Show less -

A core part of the role was keeping the client passive, alerting supervisors should they become agitated, which required excellent interpersonal skills and a strong sense of judgement. This role relied heavily, and improved, the ability to quickly assess information to determine whether it was within the Bureau's remit to assist them directly, through Gateway, Debt or Housing, or whether they had to be signposted to another organisation more equipped to deal with that specific issue. As an experienced volunteer, providing training to new volunteers was an essential part of the role, teaching them the intricacies of their role over several days before shadowing them with clients and assessing their capabilities as a volunteer adviser.
