I am an educating designer. I earned my MFA at the State University of New York (SUNY), University at Buffalo in 2012. My undergraduate work was completed at Grand Valley State University near Grand Rapids Michigan in 2001. In 2018 I accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Design and Director of the Graphic Design Program at Calvin University with an opportunity to build a design program from the foundation up. As the only full time professor in the program I have responsibilities in talent retainment and acquisition, recruitment, training, professional preparation, conceptual curation, curriculum development, project management, art direction, creative direction, mentorship, teaching and advising. In 2008 and in concert with a collection of students from Grand Valley State University where I was a Visiting Professor I founded Not Design, a collaborative studio of educators, artists and designers focusing strategically on Letterpress, Installation tactics, Curation, Authorship, Education, Constructed Narratives and Community Engagement.Specialties: Letterpress,Typography, Design Education, Installation Tactics, Signage, Identity, Design Theory, Community Relationships, Collaboration
