About Christopher Furry

I have led teams of all sizes throughout my life, from large sales teams in the automotive industry to small teams in the military. I learned to lead and build teams at a young age when I was in the automotive industry, and professionalism and teamwork were the two things I relied on the most to earn a living. I took those skills, though rough and unrefined, with me when I joined the Army. While in the Army I honed those teambuilding and leadership skills and sharpened them in Iraq, where professionalism, teamwork, and strong leadership became something I relied on, not to earn a living, but to live. At various times in my military career, I was responsible for equipment and resources that were valued in the millions of dollars, from ammunition to weapons systems. It was my responsibility to maintain accountability of these resources and track their outgoing and incoming movements, perform inspections, inventories, and assess the readiness and effectiveness of those resources for combat. I was also responsible, as the unit armorer, for providing Basic Marksmanship Training to Soldiers and assisting in the setup and execution of training ranges. The strong organizational skills I obtained during my time in the military assisted me in excelling at those positions and will continue to make me effective throughout my life and career. I am currently attending Arizona State University at the Tempe campus pursuing a Masters Degree in English with a concentration in Writing, Rhetoric, and Literacies. I expect to finish my thesis work in the fall of 2020.I currently teach English and US History at Mingus Union High School in Cottonwood, AZ.
