I am a seasoned trial attorney and litigator with nearly 250 jury trials to verdict, including criminal and civil matters. I have engaged in extensive and complex motion practice throughout my career. I served as a state prosecutor for several years prior to owning a sole practice concentrating on criminal defense, some appellate practice and civil litigation. I concluded my sole practice when I was recruited by the prominent Tampa Bay law firm Carlson, Meissner, Hart & Hayslett, P.A., where I practiced in the areas of criminal defense, and DUI defense. I served as legal counsel for law enforcement members of the Fraternal Order of Police who were involved in police-involved-shootings and internal affairs inquiries, as well as legal counsel for members of the United School Employees of Pasco, and I represented members ranging from bus drivers and cafeteria workers to school principals and school board officials. I have worked for a nationally prominent law firm representing plaintiffs in federal class-action tobacco litigation throughout Florida. Aside from serving the public sector as a prosecutor, I have also served as a division leader and lead trial attorney for the Public Defender's Office for the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida. Throughout my career, I have maintained my interest in legal research and writing, and have published legal materials and information online and as a speaker and legal consultant. I have lectured and instructed the general public, law enforcement officials and lawyers in multiple capacities. I have also served as a media consultant for print, broadcast and cable news services nationwide. I was a member and editor of the Stetson Law Review, I am a published legal author and my works have been published multiple times in the Stetson Law Review and Florida Bar Journal, as well as many legal websites where I contributed as an author. I have taught legal workshops for law students, attorneys and citizens, and was an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Stetson College of Law. I have appeared as a presenter and have lectured on the law at multiple forums, and I have been heavily involved in professional, civic and charitable groups such as Rotary, Hospice, Knights of Columbus, Inns of Court, "People's Law School", and I have lectured to law school, college, high school and middle school students.
