Chairman and CEO focused on developing a potentially revolutionary improvement in Cancer Vaccines with a current focus on a primary indication of Microsatellite Stable metastatic Colorectal Cancer and on a wider pipeline of indications mainly in cancer.

Lead WEX Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a Vancouver BC-based, small pharma wholly owned by CKLS of Hong Kong, to develop a very interesting innovator pain therapeutic, HalneuronTM, for its initial indications of cancer pain and chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain and for additional pain indications.

Lead SK Biopharmaceuticals, a Korean originated Biopharma with offices in Seoul and Daejeon, SK, Shanghai, China and Fair Lawn, NJ and SK Life Sciences, the US Affiliate of SK Biopharmaceuticals to move to the next stage of becoming a full vertically integrated pharma. The SK parent organization is a very large conglomerate with global interests in a variety of fields including energy, telecommunications, semiconductors and trading among others. The SK parent Holding Company incubated SK Biopharmaceuticals for many years progressively developing it from a chemistry and biology discovery group plus a custom manufacturing group to having preclinical capacities to having phase 1-3 development capacities. Along the way SKBP has developed an innovative way of doing its science, an excellent pipeline (mostly CNS), an innovative manufacturing capacity servicing many pharma and has laid a foundation to progress to the next level. My role was to finish the maturation of SK as a development organization, to progress it towards becoming ready to become a functional public company, and to progress it over time to become a CNS specialty pharma centered in the US with global partnering of compounds we do not commercialize ourselves. All goals accomplished by creating an entity that over time has the potential to become the first great CNS Biopharma of the 21st century, an organization that develops and commercializes great drugs generating great value, an organization with a culture and environment that brings out the best capacities in its' people, an organization that embodies the values of intelligence, integrity, innovation, initiative and execution I think critical to being a great Pharma, an organization that becomes the kind of place that The Scripps Research Institute was for me - a place where you do the best work of your life, and most importantly, a place that develops medicines that matter, medicines that change the lives of millions of people for the better.

Following initial corporate integration, moved to the EVP R&D role to focus on the registration of EXALGO (now completed) and on moving the CombinatoRx portfolio forward. Left the BOD circa September 2010 but continued working with an excellent team of scientists and executives under the superb leadership of Dr. Mark Corrigan to advance the pipeline and science of Combinatorx (which became Zalicus circa June 2010) as they progressed ion channel active agents in pain, a synergistic anti-inflammatory combination (Synavive) in Rheumatoid Arthritis, and a fascinating and powerful combinatorial drug development capacity applied to a series of therapeutic areas including through collaborations with major pharma.

Role as CEO was to complete the merger, integrate the companies and lead the public entity.

Worked with an excellent discovery and development team both to advance ion channel compounds to testing in man, to a significant pharma collaboration and in-licensed what became EXALGO, designed and with a great team conducted a successful clinical trial and registration effort leading to the eventual sale of commercial rights to EXALGO and a merger that resulted in Neuromed becoming part of a public company.

Managed clinical development of CNS Pharmaceuticals, for part of the time managed Clinical Operations for all specialties in the America and for part of the time was the Site Head for R&D for the Kalamazoo site.

Worked with other functional area site heads for overall site management. Managed the global CNS development and registration efforts of Pharmacia. For part of this time managed all Clinical Development efforts for all specialties at Pharmacia in the Western Hemisphere. Was able to contribute to the successful re-engineering of Pharmacia clinical development and to the rejuvenation of clinical development at the Kalamazoo site.

Through a series of titles started the Premier Research Worldwide CRO as the first CRO to use remote data capture (RDC) and Computer Assisted R&D (CARD), grew it up to becoming a functional international CRO, was a prime driver in leading our successful IPO, and worked with a great team of people building an excellent innovative business.

Had the opportunity to work in a first rate neuroscience environment surrounded by a number of brilliant researchers and led by the superior values and intelligence of Dr. Floyd Bloom in the early days of functional neuroimaging using magnetoencephalography, contributed to the development and IPO of BTi, the company that originated the technology, contributed with excellent colleagues to some important scientific discoveries including human cerebral plasticity and the existence of the human 40 Hz current, and had the opportunity to advance understanding of functional brain mapping in epilepsy and other CNS disorders.
