Mt Owen Glendell Complex

The Mt Owen Glendell Complex provides direct employment for approximately 800 people and comprises of:• Glendell Open Cut Mine;• Ravensworth East Mine;• Mt Owen Mine; and• Mt Owen CHPPEach of the sites utilises truck and shovel operations to produce approximately 8Mt of saleable coal each year.

Bulga Open Cut

I had the privilege to lead a fantastic team consisting of approximately 500 personnel which utilises a dragline, an electric rope shovel, eight excavators, two front end loaders and approximately 50 haul trucks to target the Whittingham coal measures. Bulga Open Cut produces approximately 12 million ROM tonnes of semi soft coking coal and thermal coal each year.

Liddell Coal Operations

As a member of Liddell Coal Operation's senior leadership team, I led the Technical Services Department. Liddell is a truck and shovel operation that moves approximately 40M cubic metres of rock and 6M tonnes of coal per year. Targeting coal seams ranging from 0.3m to 8m thick, in shallow and steeply dipping deposits, as well as mining through disused underground workings. This role saw me leading a great team of engineering and industry professionals in disciplines such as:• Mining Engineering• Drill and Blast• Civil Engineering• Surveying• Geology and Geotechnical Engineering• Fleet Management SystemsI am also the competent person for reporting of JORC reserves and act as the statutory Mining Manager during periods of leave.

Bulga Open Cut

Internal transfer to Bulga Open Cut to assist with the mine's progression from Project to actual Execution stage. Core tasks for this role:• Oversee geological model conversion from Minex to Vulcan and block model build.• Optimisation of design and generation of reserves for the existing Bayswater Pit.• Pit/strip design and generation of reserves for the new East Pit.• Xpac model build and LOM schedule development.

Ravensworth Open Cut

Nearing completion of the Ravensworth North Project, I transitioned from the project team to the mine operations. I was the Senior Mining Engineer and lead of the Strategic Planning team. We were responsible for analysing and evaluating options in mine design, followed by the assessment of mine scheduling scenarios so that an optimum strategic plan could be developed.The core tasks of my current role were to provide direction to the Operational Support Team in the following areas: • Five year Budget planning and scheduling.• Annual Life of Mine strategic development which involves: - Continual review and optimisation of the Approved Mine Plans. - Dragline and excavator scheduling, as well as truck fleet and haulage optimisation. - Financial evaluation to assess commercial viability of various options. - Tailings management strategy and final landform design.• Provide assistance to the medium term engineers when required to deliver plans and schedules that fall within the current year.• Step into Technical Services Manager position during periods of absence.• Oversee geological model updates (both structural and quality components).• Annual JORC Reserves Estimation - I am a Competent Person for reserves estimation.• Annual Gas Emission Estimation and Reporting for National Greenhouse Emission Reports (NGERs).

Ravensworth North Project, Hunter Valley

This role was a key position in the Project Delivery Team that involved extensive interaction with the mine’s technical services department and operations group. Roles and responsibilities on the project include:• Design and monitoring the construction activities for new surface infrastructure which included bulk civil works, pipelines and pumping systems, roads, water storage dams, truck fill points, dewatering borefields, and a Hunter River pumping station.• Project Manager for the installation and implementation of a new digital radio network across three mining Operations (Ravensworth Open Cut, Ravensworth Central Coal Processing and the Ravensworth Underground Mine). This included the coordination of the work scope, tender process, contract development, and budget and contractor management.• I was Xstrata’s engineering representative working with Parsons Brinkerhoff to carry out the Macquarie Generation Infrastructure Relocation works. This project included bulk earthworks, road construction, pump/pipeline relocation and power reticulation as required by the land purchase agreements between Macquarie Generation and Xstrata Coal NSW.• Contractor management for mobile crushing plant and the production of select materials for the project.• I was responsible for obtaining Mine Subsidence Board approval for infrastructure such as a new 330kV power line and Construction MIA (office blocks).

Newlands Coal Pty Ltd

I filled the role of Mining Engineer at Newlands Surface Operations in QLD. My role at Newlands involved:• Sole responsibility for the design and short term scheduling for the Mclaren and Sommerled dragline pits, as well as their associated prestrip and coaling fleets.• Assisted with pit design/scheduling for the shovel/backhoe fleets in the Wollombi pit.• EOM report deliverables for the commercial department;• Drill and blast scheduling; and• Coordination with the Long term planning team to provide effective short and medium term designs and schedules for the draglines and excavator fleets.Newland’s fleet of equipment consisted of:• Two Draglines: a BE1370 and Marion 8750.• Three Liebherr 996’s (a mix of shovel and backhoe configurations), a Marion 301 electric rope shovel, and two backhoe excavators (a RH170 and RH120).• The truck fleet consisted of Terex 4400’s and Cat 789’s.

I began my employment with Xstrata as a graduate in Business Development where I assisted the Principle Mine Planning Engineer with Life of Mine pit design and scheduling which included:• LOM designs for both Dragline and Truck/Shovel pits at Newlands Surface Operations.• Generation of Geological Block Models for coal resources at several existing operations as well as future XCQ projects. • Calculating reserves for LOM plans.• Providing technical assistance to several operations, predominantly Newlands Surface Operations and Collinsville Coal.
