• For thesis, developed a methodology for quantification of a cantilever beam's simulated nonlinear modes with a local, strongly nonlinear stiffness element.• Modeled Euler-Bernoulli cantilever beam with two nonlinear configurations using the Finite Element Method in Python and verified model using existing experimental data.• Computed optimal linear modes for modeled time histories on Linux cluster and used these to predict nonlinear regimes of operation and to introduce a mathematical formula for verifying the existence of nonlinear behavior for a set of input parameters.• Research published in Journal of Sound and Vibration.
