Once deployed to Iraq, I delegated limited contracting authority to the FOOs to expand our procurement impact across the battle space.• Led my team to award and administer contracts valued over $33 million dollars during our one year OIF III deployment. We reduced the requirements backlog from 140 contracts to zero in 75 days. These requirements were high on the combat commander's priority list and involved Force Protection, Iraqi Army facilities and training support, and life support for US soldiers.• Restructured and corrected contracts awarded by my OIF predecessors to recover $50,000 dollars paid to contractors by mistake. • Collaborated with supporting Resource Management leadership in Iraq to establish procedures to pay Iraqi contractors at local finance offices which allowed remotely located contractors to be paid without subjecting them to dangerous travel in Iraq. This was a major initiative that greatly improved Iraqi contractor safety, morale, and performance. • Before redeploying from OIF III trained five incoming Contracting Specialists, my teams’ replacements, on the Regional Contracting Command’s policies and procedures leading to a smooth combat support handoff. -
