- Manage Metro Transit’s Material Management Department. The Material Management Department is responsible for the inventory management and inventory control of all of the parts supplies and commodities used by Metro Transit to maintain its fleet of revenue vehicles. We currently support about 1000 buses, 100 light rail vehicles, 27 locomotives and cab cars, soon to be over 40 miles of light rail system tracks, signals and power generation equipment. We also support the revenue collection repair department which is the department that maintains the fareboxes on buses and ticket vending machines on rail platforms. We also support the public facility maintenance department and other departments as needed such at Metro Transit Police Department and multiple transportation departments. - My staff is 55 people. Two assistant managers, two supervisors, two material planners, business systems analyst, instructional designer, administrative assistant and 45 stockkeepers. The two material planners plan for 18,000 SKUs spread out over 16 warehouses throughout the Twin Cities. When combining SKUs with locations it means they are managing about 80,000 SKU/warehouse combinations. - The 45 stockkeepers work 24 hours a day, five days a week. They handle all receiving, warehousing, issuing and outbound shipping requirements. Our standing inventory is over $64,000,000. In a normal year the stockkeepers perform over 605,000 inventory transactions with a dollar value of over $585,000,000. - Create and implement the strategic vision and plan for the Material Management Department focusing on value added growth in functions, personnel, equipment, transportation and vendor relations.- Establish, develop and execute a strategic vision using federal and state capital funding.- Manage and oversee the hiring, training, employee relations, contract adherence, contract negotiations and performance of union members.

- Took lead on several crisis situations resulting in smooth management of the crisis and the least amount of damage to Metro Transits personnel, equipment and service.- Oversaw and monitored the daily operations of up to 150 operators and buses along up to 50 routes.- Selected by Metro Transit Leadership to be the lead on the Agency’s performance measurements. • Organized and led a team that included all departments within Metro Transit. • Worked with external transit agencies such as MARTA, SORTA and Milwaukee County Transit. • Developed recommendations for such measurements, how they would be presented, and who would be responsible for the monthly tracking of the measurements.

- Retired after 26 years of service in the United States Army as a Logistics Officer. Served seven years on active duty and 19 years in the National Guard and Reserve. - Throughout my tenure as a logistics officer I was responsible for anticipating important or critical events, identifying resource requirements and assigning responsibility for specific work, including deadlines and performance expectations. This included managing up to twelve different budgets (both capital and operational) concurrently. - Responsible for the fielding of new equipment systems for both the 1st Cavalry Division and Minnesota National Guard Engineering Units. In this role I developed and understood the systematic approach to closing of processes and system performance gaps through streamlining and cycle time reduction; as well as, identifying and eliminating causes of quality below specifications, process variation, and non-value-adding activities. These skills allowed for the efficient deployment and fielding of new equipment systems in areas such as Saudi Arabia (Desert Storm), Ft. Polk, Louisiana(MNARNG Bosnian Deployment), Ft. Hood, TX (Desert Shield Deployment) and Camp Ripley, Minnesota. - I have also demonstrated the ability to visualize the total process and aid in locating problem areas using process mapping, quality improvement, and visualization tools to locate, quantify, and correct root causes of problems. These processes played a major role in planning the deployment of Army units to locations across the country (Georgia to California) or the world (Texas to Saudi Arabia).

Measured customer satisfaction and developed loyal customers by using performance metrics taken from the customer’s perspective, with criteria such as on-time delivery, perception of quality, percentage of complaints, and length of wait times.- Through communication, leadership, goal setting, performance measurements and attention to detail, led the CSK Minnesota Distribution Center from the lowest ranked center to the highest ranked center in the nation.- Managed 68 Teamsters and 5 non-represented employees in multiple distribution facilities that covered an area from Marquette, Michigan to St. Louis, Missouri to Kearney, Nebraska.
