His clients range from blue chip companies and household brands to SMEs and individuals, spanning a wide range of industries.After graduating with a 1st in physics from Imperial College, Chris worked as an IT project manager at a major telecommunications company before turning to the law, where his technical background gives him an edge. Chris has a strong trial practice, and regularly appears in substantive applications, interim hearings, and appeals from the intellectual property office. He is also a popular and effective junior, frequently instructed in major and multi-national litigation. Chris’ recent technical patent experience covers medical devices (Abbott v Dexcom), military hardware (Remfry v Belcan), manufacturing processes (Heraeus Noblelight v First Light Lamps), oil wells (Hydra Systems v Titan Torque), electronics (Lufthansa v Astronics, Hand Held Products v Zebra), and pharma (Novartis v Teva).Recent experience in financial disputes includes the InterDigital v Oppo FRAND trial (March 2024), the account of profits in Lufthansa (October 2024), and the pregabalin damages inquiry in Warner-Lambert v Dr Reddy’s (settled in September 2023).Notable recent trade mark cases have involved signs in foreign script (Lappet) and small scale use in respect of spiritual/holistic therapies (Stone v Wenman). Chris was also involved in a major sports betting database rights case in 2022 (Genius Sports).In 2019 Chris was appointed as an ‘expert’ adjudicator in Nominet’s domain name dispute resolution service.
