My involvement in music began with playing in bands around Melbourne. My fascination with the guitar led to a job on the bench at Maton Guitars in the late 70's for several years, so it was playing in bands and building guitars. Good times. I then went on to pursue a career in youth work and community development while still playing regularly in bands and with solo work. These experiences contributed to the development of my people and relationship skills, handy to have when involved with dynamic, talented individuals in the recording and production process. An opportunity opened up in the mid 90's to work at a small studio in outer Melbourne, and so began my return to a full time music related career. During this time of regular studio work, I also joined the original committee of the Frankston Guitar Festival, looking after the luthiers and guitar builders exhibition at the festival and playing a few seminars. One day a week I taught Music Industry Skills Cert 3 at Chisholm TAFE. My guitar playing consisted of studio sessions, solo and band performances and a yearly gig with the Australian Pops Orchestra every new years eve. I also started up my mobile recording business, Hallamsound Productions, recording many of Melbournes blues musicians at the time. Artists I have recorded include the following:Chain, Mick Rudd and Bill Put and Spectrum, Kevin Borich live at the Continental, Geoff Achison, Lloyd Speigel, Collards Greens and Gravy, Jeff Lang, Becka Boucher, Butterfly Boucher / The Mercy Bell, Michael Paynter, Lucas Bartlett, Eddie Cole.
