As a Building Systems Engineer on the Passive House team, I have provided consulting for Passive House certification for over 12 projects including mid and high-rise multi-family and college dorms from early design through the end of construction. In addition, I have aided in energy modeling and consulting on several multi-year studies conducted by organizations such as the New York City School Construction Authority, New York University, and New York State energy Research and Development Authority.In this role I:- reviewed and commented on Architectural and MEP drawings for Passive House design elements- created energy models using the Passive House Planning Package and heat flow analyses using THERM and Heat3- conducted air barrier reviews for achieving the Passive House air tightness target- reviewed project specifications for efficiency and certification requirements- led construction kickoff meetings and trainings for sub-contractors to understand Passive House concepts focused on thermal bridge mitigation and air sealing strategies- reviewed submittals and RFIs for compliance with mechanical and envelope efficiency requirements- conducted on-site inspections and air tightness testing of windows and doors- helped develop blower door testing plans and aided in conducting whole building blower door tests

While at Nastasi Architects, a design-build architectural firm in Hoboken, NJ, I worked as both a draftsman and a construction manager.In this role I:- Assisted in the development of construction details for the Candela Lofts, a seven-story, Passive House apartment building using Revit.- Managed the renovation of a 5,000 square foot residence in Ridgewood, NJ.- Conducted site visits and drafted site plans for several projects- Developed scripts using Grasshopper for Rhino to generate patterns during design and eventually shop drawings for the fabrication of panelized facade systems

I managed the construction of the SURE House in Hoboken, NJ as well as the deconstruction, shipping, and reconstruction of the house in Irvine, California for the Department of Energy Solar Decathlon competition. In this role I:- led a team of about 25 students in construction in Hoboken, NJ for 4 months after framing was completed by professionals.- managed the fabrication of the exterior steel canopy structure- fully designed and managed the fabrication of the exterior louver structure using CNC routing- logged over 50 hours driving the team's telescoping forklift for installation of exterior steel, deck panels, and triple pane sliding doors- planned logistics of shipping the house across the country in three sections as well as deck and steel structure.- managed reconstruction of the house in 9 days in Irvine, California for competition.

While a graduate student at Stevens Institute of Technology, I led the energy modeling team and was one of the primary fundraising presenters during the design of the SURE House Project, the winner of the 2015 Department of Energy Solar Decathlon Competition. In this role I had the following responsibilities:- personally developed and oversaw the development of several energy models using tools such as the Passive House Planning Package, TRNSYS, THERM, DIVA for Rhino, and the suite of Ladybug and Honeybee tools for Grasshopper.- evaluated the building for Passive House certification and net zero energy certification.- analyzed the energy performance of the building during the competition week with particular focus on the interaction between the heat pump hot water system and the direct PV hot water system.- translated information between the Revit model and the energy modeling tools and aided in developing envelope details for construction to limit thermal bridging and obtain Passive House certification.- developed the energy modeling portions of the engineering narrative for the SURE House team's submission to the Department of Energy (linked below). The team would later be awarded first place in the engineering category.

During this summer internship I managed several sub-contractors on-site during the construction of 458 rental units as a part of the City Center DC project.
