Graduate Student Researcher: Hughes Lab
CurrentAdvisor: Dr. Christopher C.W. Hughes• Employing bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing techniques to unravel the intricacies of cell-cell communication underlying the development of tissue-specific vasculature and disease progression. • Utilizing COMSOL computational fluid dynamics software to design and model pressure-driven vascularized microphysiological systems, enabling the simulation and optimization of complex fluid flow dynamics. • Applying cell culture and molecular biology techniques to construct vascularized organ-on-a-chip models while quantifying transcriptomic and proteomic profiles through qPCR, ELISAs, and immunofluorescence staining. • Mentoring undergraduate students in the fields of tissue engineering, computational fluid dynamics, and single-cell RNA sequencing, fostering their development and guiding them in pursuing their own projects. Assisting them in applying for university-specific funding opportunities.
