Project Student PlacementAustin Health - Neurology Department Aug 2013 - Oct 2013Heidelberg, VictoriaThe purpose of this project was to provide evidence-based recommendations to the Austin Hospital regarding the use of technology in treating cognitive dysfunction during the acute phase of stroke. A literature review was conducted to identify the evidence supporting the use of technology within a stroke population. Search results yielded 19 articles that evaluated various technologies that addressed cognitive processes including overall cognitive function, memory, attention, planning, problem solving, visual perception, language deficits and mood. Findings were used to formulate evidence-based recommendations for modernising the treatment of stroke using iPad based therapy at the Austin Hospital.
