I have been in the oilfield industry since 1986 and started right out of high school working contruction for Marcon three miles form home. My plan was to work a few years to save enough money and attend college at USL. My plan didn't work, because I liked the money to much to stop and coming from a poor family, the money was nice. If I could do it all over again, you know the story...COLLEGE!!!!! Worked construction and production for 4 years and realized that drilling and completions paid more money and got my first job with Pro-T company in Berwick, La. running filtration units. I worked for Ricky Provino at Pro-T company (Good People) for 2 yrs until Baroid offered more money, mud & completion school and my first company vehicle. Baroid was the best company in the world to work for and I was promoted 3 times in 7 years. My last promotion was executive sales in New Orleans for Completion fluids and filtration. Halliburton bought out Dresser Industries and obtained Baroid in the process. I made a decision to leave and go consulting and worked overseas for 6 months straight in the Mediterranean sea as mud and completion engineer out of Cairo, Egypt for Baroid/Halliburton. Awesome experience and has lead me to enjoying the consulting world with much better pay. I also worked for Rig-Chem (Wonderful People) out of Houma, La. for 3 years performing deepwater displacements for Shell, Chevron and BHP. After Obama had put the moratorium on the Gulf of Mexico and the Deep Water Horizon blow out, I worked as Mud Engineer Consultant for Chevron through MI Swaco/Mudman Consulting Engineers in Bakersfield, California from 2010 till 2014. It was interesting, educational and fun, but found work in Midland, Texas and was glad to get back home. I worked in Big Lake, Texas for 9 months until they started stacking rigs then went to Mexico to work for Mogel fluids for Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico. I'm currently looking for work and what's available right now.
