Christopher Hetzel is a federally qualified professional (36 CFR 61) in the fields of historic preservation, architectural history, and history with over 30 years of professional experience. He has managed cultural resources programs of varying size and complexity, and is skilled in coordinating diverse project teams and ensuring successful project delivery to his clients. Christopher is formerly the Program Manager/Branch Chief of the National Park Service's National Historic Landmarks Program and Acting Chief of the National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmark programs, and has worked as a historic consultant for nearly three decades. Before this, he was the Historic Preservation Officer for Deadwood, South Dakota, where he managed that city’s multi-million dollar historic preservation program. He is also highly skilled in the use and development of digital technology to facilitate the completion of successful historic preservation projects.Christopher is knowledgeable in American cultural and architectural history, with particular emphasis in urban/suburban and industrial contexts, and is experienced in local, state, and federal regulatory environments, including Section 106 Review of National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA), and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
