Worked on the ESRC-funded 'UK Fisheries Policy Post-Brexit: Multi-level Challenges and Opportunities' project (ES/R001952/1) which is part of the wider 'UK in a Changing Europe' initiative.

Duties involved a full range of teaching and learning activities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This included lesson planning, preparation, leading seminar groups, writing and delivering lectures, marking students' work, giving feedback to students, dissertation supervision, one-to-onementoring, personal tutoring and pastoral support. Experience also included course and curriculum development, including the successful design and delivery of new modules. Also take on several academic administration duties. This included being the Admissions and Recruitment Director for politics and international relations degree programmes during 2016/17, engaging in outreach activities, convening the school's Student-Staff Liaison Committee, assisting at university open days and organising study trips.

Research focused on local government involvement in transnational networking. Local government in south-east England and northern France is used as a case study to answer two key questions:- What are the motivations behind local government transnational networking?- How effective are local authorities in securing benefits from transnational networking?This research adopts a ‘local politics’ focus and attempts to explain why local authorities engage in transnational activities at a time when they face financial pressures and often lack the statutory competence. The research is based on an analysis of over 100 documents and 68 qualitative interviews with local government officers and councillors.

Duties involve a full range of teaching and associated administrative work. This includes lesson planning and preparation, leading seminar and tutorial groups (ranging from 10 to 30 students), writing and delivering lectures, marking students’ work (including essays, exam papers and final year dissertations), giving feedback to students and one-to-one mentoring and tutoring. Duties also include a range of course development activities, including maintaining online modules for distance learning courses.

Worked on the Higher Education Academy funded project evaluating the postgraduate research experience survey. Duties included identifying potential participants, conducting face-to-face cognitive interviews with postgraduate research students and academic staff, transcribing interviews and feeding results to the project team.

And also June 2012 to August 2012.Organised, developed and carried out qualitative and quantitative research for council services. Developed internal research guidance to ensure robust methodology was employed across the council and advised departments in designing surveys and other research. Carried out quantitative analysis of survey results, quality of life indicators and other secondary data using statistical software packages and geographical information systems.

Developed and conducted qualitative and quantitative research for the council. Gathered accurate data to ensure effective customer insight. Carried out other ad hoc research for senior management and councillors, ranging from the impact of new legislation to the results of residents’ surveys. Led applications for quality assurance systems. Sat on the Customer Focus Programme Board, overseeing corporate communications and customer service.
