After retiring from service, he become the President and CEO of Northwest Consultants-M&C. LLCSynopsis After graduating from Northwest Missouri State University in 1983, he rose through the ranks as an infantry officer, serving for over three decades. His many distinguished appointments include serving as the Commanding General of United States Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox, 2016 to 2018, Chief of Staff of United States Army Pacific Command and as the co-founder and first Provost of the Army University. Over the course of his career, he served as the Executive Officer for the Secretary of the Army, the Army Senior Liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives, and he Commanded an Infantry Battalion from the famed 101st Airborne Division during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Hughes has been recognized as a “Thought Leader” and is credited with assisting with the creation of five major organizations within the Department of Defense from the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Task Force, to the Army University—leading to his appointment as an investigator on the USS Cole Commission in 2000. In addition to his military service, Hughes has also earned advanced degrees including a Master of Arts in Business Management and National Security strategies. he is also the author of War on Two Fronts; an Infantry Commanders War in Iraq and the Pentagon.
