Co-created WATG’s urban mixed use studio in Chicago building the office from scratch.-Served as both the Design Director and Managing Director of the Chicago office reporting directly to the CEO in Irvine, California-Recruited and hired staff growing the office to 15 people in under two years-Assisted the accounting team to establishing operating budgets for the office-Worked directly with WATG’s CEO to nurture existing client relationships and introduce WATG to new ones-Oversaw and managed junior staff through each phase of the design process-Worked closely with clients to ensure project delivery expectations-Presented to city councils and staff of municipalities at various stages of the entitlements process-Worked closely with clients to develop programs and test fit potential building sites-Master planned large sites working closely with the client and the municipalities they were in -Worked with and led Architect’s of Record when collaborating on projects-Directed and worked with world class consultants such as Arup and Thornton Tomasetti engineers-Produced award winning designs that were published, see publications section below

Opus Development is comprised of three divisions, Real Estate, Construction, Architecture & Engineering. I managed the Chicago Architecture Department.-Worked closely with the real estate and construction teams to find transit oriented sites test fitting them for potential residential developments-Assisted the real estate team with their pro-forma and adjusted design concepts to confirm their assumptions -Worked closely with the construction teams to insure project budgets were being met-Established and presented architectural fees for design budgets to the real estate teams-Managed and mentored junior staff -Attended and presented to local city councils as part of the entitlements process-Worked closely with city staff to get building plan approvals

I led a design studio focused on large scale mixed use projects and supertall building.-Worked closely with Adrian Smith who designed five of the worlds tallest buildings including Burj Khalifa, the current record holder-Work focused on supertall Building technology, supertall is any building over 300 meters tall-Developed complex mixed use programs for mega projects in Saudi Arabia and China-Specialized in office, retail, residential and hotel program types, typically all within one project-Frequently traveled to both Saudi Arabia and China giving design presentations to clients -Managed a design team that ranged in size from 5 to 20 people depending on the phase of the project-Recruited and mentored junior staff

Worked with and mentored by Dirk Lohan, grandson of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.-Led the design of FBI field offices while working with the GSA as our client-Worked closely with technical architects to insure the building concepts were maintained through the detailing process-Coordinated consultant work-Managed client expectations guiding them through the various design phases -Presented to neighborhood groups and zoning councils shepherding projects through entitlements -Developed the office’s luxury single family residential portfolio

This role brought me to Chicago and introduced me to international mixed use architecture.-Worked directly with both managing and design partners to deliver large scale complex projects-Detailed exterior wall systems and designed cores for large office buildings at Canary Wharf in London-Co-lead SOM’s first major healthcare project, VA Hospital West Side Chicago-Managed medical space planning teams-Led user group meetings with hospital medical staff
