Second-year Biology student, pre-medical track. My fascination with life and it’s complexities brought me to the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Hofstra University, where I am working to gain the tools needed for a future in the Medical Field. Last semester I completed a First Aid and Safety course, which covered first aid, injury prevention, CPR, and resuscitation.The most valuable lesson I have learned from my education thus far has been that through scientific observation most problems can be explained and solved with relative ease. Even though I knew I wanted to pursue an education in Medicine, I have enjoyed learning about all of the science that drives life. My classes in Animal Form and Function as well as Chemistry have equipped me with a great background and understanding of the forces that drive life for a future career in the medical field.This year I have learned a great deal about the factors that enable life at a micro level. As I continue my education I hope to build upon my understanding of the chemistry of how abiotic factors allow for biotic factors to emerge and give way to biological function at a macro level. In the coming years, I hope to continue my education of Biochemistry and further my understanding of life in all of its complexities in order to give me the tools necessary to prepare me for an education in medicine.
