My background is in psychology and cognitive neuroscience. My Ph.D. is in Psychological Medicine, where I was interested in the role healthy sleep could play in preventing poor mental health outcomes. Post Ph.D. I set up post-graduate programmes to teach medical professionals how to diagnose and treat sleep disorders. I also a large-scale public health intervention to support sleep in adolescents. At Imperial College London, I have designed and co-lead an undergraduate module on Lifestyle Medicine and Prevention. This is a nascent and growing medical specialism. Alongside this I have a strong interest in the role of identity, belonging and discomfort in learning. When I'm not teaching I focus on projects aimed to support closing the attainment gap, and promoting diversity and inclusion in the medical school. I also have a keen interest in public engagement and have worked with various artists, educational, media and industry partners on developing innovative ways to facilitate the public and policy makers in considering the importance of sleep.
