Born in Gillingham Kent attending St Marys RC Primary School and then Gillingham Technical High School. On leaving school in 1975 I followed family tradition and entered Chatham Royal Dockyard as an apprentice shipwright. My Grand-father, Father and both my uncles were tradesmen in the Dockyard I was established in 1979 and also married that year. Having been a victim of defence cuts i was made redundant in 1982 and applied to join the Police. Whilst awaiting acceptance i worked for KCC teaching craftsmen skills to young people.I entered British Transport Police in October 1982 and completed my training at Cwmbran DTC.I was posted to Victoria on the Southern Division. I applied and was accepted into the Force Dog Section in 1987 and moved to FHQ. Under re-organisation in 1994 we were posted out to divisions and i re-joined London South where i served as a dog handler until the re-organisation of 2012 when we moved back to the FHQ umbrella.I maitained my Track Saftey Training, I was a Police Search Team member and kept my competancies current from 1985 until 2012.I was deployed in the poll tax riot at Trafalgar Square as a Dog handler.I recieved a Borough Commanders commendation for Bravery.
