My experience as a clinical research assistant focused on investigating the effect of aerobic exercise on the hippocampal atrophy present in Alzheimer’s disease. During this investigation, which yielded in the thesis for my Master’s Degree, and during my other research experience, I have managed several large databases and established new databases for new studies. I am also quick to adapt, identifying and filling whatever function is needed for the group. For example, most of my programming experience have been self-taught so that I can fix the program to better fit the needs. I have over 6-months of experience as medical scribe, where I witnessed and documented patient-physician interaction in both the internal medicine department in urban areas and the emergency department in the underserved neighborhoods. I also have over 200 hours of experience in direct patient interaction as an EMT. These experiences have helped me to become familiar with the details of the healthcare at patient and provider level. I also acquired first-hand experience in helping different participants understand the study and consent forms as well as conducting interviews and cognitive assessments. This experience along with my experience in tutoring for MCAT and medical school level courses have given me proficiencies and knowhows that would aid me in helping individuals understand complicated concepts or procedures such as healthcare. I thrive in a fast-pace and challenging environment, both individually and in groups. While I was captain of my rowing team, I aimed to improve team cohesion and work with various individuals. I honed my skill to not just be a well-functioning part of a team, but also be a leader to improve the team morale and efficiency whenever it was necessary.
