• Owned a PATRAN/NASTRAN system finite element model (FEM) of a thermally sensitive sensor suite platform.• Performed thermal distortion analyses to investigate and minimize deformations affecting pointing requirements for star trackers and gyroscopic devices. • Executed modal & harmonic response studies to eliminate high frequency responses affecting sensitive neighboring units.• Programmed Microsoft Excel macros to efficiently post-process and downselect large datasets.• Drafted technical reports and communicated design changes to the design team.

• Developed finite element models in MSC Patran for multiple piece part components and large assemblies.• Prepared detailed stress analysis packages for NASA which includes modal, static, and fracture (NASGRO) analyses for the Orbital Flight Test 2 and the first Crewed Flight Test.

• Pioneered the first additively manufactured (AM) ESPA class satellite in the industry (AlSi10Mg & Ti-6Al-4V).• Designed AM equipment panels utilizing isogrid & space truss geometry to replace heritage honeycomb designs. • Reduced structural mass by 10% and cycle time by 4 months through a massively reduced part count and assembly operations. • Engineered an elastomeric planate dynamic isolator intended to dampen sensitive electronic payloads from high frequency regime. Designed a test specification to verify the effectiveness of the isolator. • Performed sine & random vibration tests on an equipment panel with constrained layer damping utilizing viscoelastic material sheets. Report includes transmissibility overlays with a nominal undamped configuration to quantify the damping effectiveness.• Calculated tolerance stack ups for bolted joints & component critical clearances created due to manufacturing tolerances.• Mentored two summer interns with tasks including AM & tooling design, 4-point bend tests, failure investigations using finite element modeling/hand calculations, and bolted joint analyses. Advanced Material Modeling of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) Using Computational / Finite Element Methods• Investigated the structural, monetary, and ecological effects of UHPC in California highway bridge column designs.• Characterized UHPC material properties in OpenSees & performed sectional analysis to verify comparable column moment capacities to conventional concrete.• Achieved a reduction in column diameter and eCO2 emissions by 36% and 16% respectively.• Performed non-linear pushover and time history analyses to demonstrate comparable seismic performance capabilities through residual and peak deformations.
