Port Capacity Project: Roads and Services Package, Port MelbournePort of Melbourne Corporation, $80 millionAs part of the $1.6 billion Port Capacity Project, BMD have been contracted for this civil works contract which will deliver important roads and services “backbone” infrastructure that will enable the fast tracking of additional container and automotive capacity for Victoria. The works are governed by a rigorous Environmental Management Plan, which is a not-negotiable ‘rule book’ that sets out the environmental protection requirements and various monitoring regimes. Road links will include an on-ramp directly from the Port to the West Gate / M1 corridor, keeping port trucks off local roads.The redevelopment of Webb Dock will deliver an international container terminal located at Webb Dock East and an expanded automotive terminal located at Webb Dock West, to be developed by terminal operators. The redevelopment of Webb Dock West includes the consolidation of current PoMC automotive shipping terminals into a single world class automotive terminal and the development of new automotive Pre Delivery Inspection (PID) areas.Responsible for procurement of materials and coordination of site construction activities (specifically sewer & water reticulation, traffic switches, and piling works), the development & implementation of QA lot control. Also included was the relocation of HV and LV power from overhead to underground, and the relocation of water and Telstra assets.
