In May 2023 I began a new role as UK Sales Manager for Prestel UK, part of the Penguin Random House group.I am now responsible for the vast majority of all the publisher's UK sales - including, but not exclusive to, Amazon UK, Waterstones (including Hatchards, Foyles & Blackwell's), WH Smith's, independent bookshops, museums & galleries, and much, much more.I previously held a role as Key Account Manager for Headline and Quercus, within the Hachette UK group, primarily looking after the Waterstones account (including a long period of time as the Lead KAM for the entire group). Before then, I held number of roles within Waterstones itself, largely focused on the commercial aspects of their shops. Of Waterstones' twenty superstores, I have had a direct buying and commercial influence on over half; and continued to nurture and improve the majority of other London shops. Early on my role as Commercial Manager constituted replenishing key lines and creating displays, but as Buying Manager I honed my skills into two key specialisms: New Title Buying and Range.I have extensive experience giving conference talks and appearing on panels at industry events; from giving a key note speech at the Independent Authors Association (IAA), to being on discussion panels at the Blake Society AGM and being the retail industry expert chosen to debate small publishing houses' strategy and book design at the Inpress Book Conference.I have been on the judging panel for a number of book prizes; including the BPIF Book Design Awards for 2015/16 and becoming Head Judge for the 2016/17 award, as well as being the regional delegate for the Guardian First Book Award in its inaugural year.I am also the founder of record label Sound Devastation, a platform for new, emerging talent as well as respected, established acts. The label was founded on heavy music, but has expanded its scope with more experimental nuance in recent years. Over a decade old, the label has been featured in a multitude of newspapers, magazines and websites, including The Independent, The Guardian, The Wire, NME, Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Terrorizer, Decibel, Pitchfork, and others.I am looking to connect with other people in the book publishing and music industries.
