Christopher Kemp, PhD has studied the genetic and molecular basis of cancer for over 25 years and is internationally recognized for his pioneering research on tumor suppressor genes. This research has led to a better understanding of how tumors respond to cancer therapy and to the development of promising new approaches to improve patient outcome. Dr. Kemp is a Full Member in the Divisions of Human Biology and Public Health Science at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington, USA. He is also a Full Professor in the Department of Pathology, at the University of Washington, in Seattle. He is a founder of Epigenomics, a biotechnology company located in Seattle and Berlin, Germany. Dr. Kemp received in Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland Ohio, a Master’s degree in Fisheries Science from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, and a doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Oncology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin. Following his PhD, Dr. Kemp did five years of postdoctoral cancer research at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow, Scotland. He has been at the Fred Hutchinson Center since 1994.
