I would suggest to many out there that the field of Emergency Medicine is a great place to learn long lasting impressions on how best to engage with your work. Working as an EMT quickly teaches you to be diligent in your problem solving and confident in your decisions, valuable skills for any industry. Whether you have a technically difficult call or are swamped with a dozen BLS calls, the training and knowledge from both mentors and literature will not perish. I learned that lesson myself during my time as an EMT. Sometimes you can surprise yourself with how much you knowledge you can access in times of stress. A career in Emergency Medicine is worthwhile for many types of people. If you think you are interested in the field I would highly suggest learning more and researching as much as you can! There's many opportunities for those getting started in the work force and the training/education is relatively affordable depending on specialty and level of care. I would recommend getting in contact with a City/County FREMS agency local to you and utilizing their resources! I am currently looking forward to using the skills I learned as an EMT at my new position with A Head For Profits. Hopefully they will aid me in learning about the various new topics I will be exposed to during training. Every new challenge in the workplace is a chance to grow both as an individual and an entrepreneur.
