Initially I was part of the Commissioning team based offshore. Following successful commissioning and moving to an operational FPSO I was appointed Technical Custodian.As Technical Custodian I was responsible for the engineering, support and operation of the Bonga FPSO DCS System, the Fire and Gas system, Safety system and all UCP based interfaces. Following successful commissioning and moving to an operational FPSO I was appointed Technical Custodian.As Technical Custodian I was responsible for the engineering, support and operation of the Bonga FPSO DCS System, the Fire and Gas system, Safety system and all UCP based interfaces. I managed with the remote engineers the change control system ensuring tracing of all approved modifications. The control system comprised over 15,000 Field instruments monitoring the process and packages and 1500 Fire and Gas detectors. I advised and worked with a local and remote team of engineers/technicians maintaining, enhancing, and enabling the operation of the 220,000 bopd oil facility. Implementing software changes, managing change control, ensuring operational integrity and reliability, performance monitoring and alarm management. We used an Asset Management system and SAP to schedule maintenance and produce metrics on the system. Where required I designed and implemented approved modifications if required. I also visited vendor premises in various locations to witness FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and sign off on modifications.I was an integral part of 4 total platform shutdowns during the time on Bonga where major modifications/safety system modifications were implemented along with major improvements, repairs and enhancements to the process. These shutdowns are required to ensure that all operating licenses were maintained with the appropriate authorities.I also produced and delivered numerous presentations and training courses to both management and the Nigerian technicians. Working on the engineering, support, design and testing of the Bonga FPSO DCS System and all computer-based interfaces, this included numerous system vendors. I worked with a multinational team of over 100 people supporting the Client (Shell Nigeria) The team successfully developed and tested the DCS system and all interfaces for the Bonga FPSO based in Nigeria.
