I have worked as a Research Assistant at Michigan Technological University. My research centered on Biological Blast Wave Modeling for Military Applications. My research objectives included exploring the use of protein-stabilized fluorescent nanoclusters for high-rate fluorescent pressure sensing and exploring the creation of PDMS material with tunable elastic properties to create synthetic biological models with realistic properties. I also have experience with converting MRI images to 3D CAD models for use in Finite Element analysis and as a basis for the construction of synthetic biological models for shock tube testing.

During the summer of 2014 I was a Mechanical Engineering intern in the Composite and Hybrid Materials Branch of the Weapons and Materials Research Directorate (WMRD) of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. During this internship I investigated the potential use of the fluorescent properties of protein-stabilized metal nanoclusters (P-NCs) for use in high-rate pressure sensing applications. I presented the results of my research during the summer to a panel of high ranking scientists, this presentation was a division finalist in the 2014 Annual ARL summer symposium, an ARL Technical Report of my findings was also created. During this internship I also participated in the GEMS Army Educational Outreach Program, whose purpose is to raise awareness of STEM fields to middle and high school students.

During the summer of 2009, I was an engineering intern in the Distribution Planning and Performance department at Consumers Energy in Flint, MI. During this time I performed circuit inspections in Genesee County area, as well as designing new and improved fusing solution for circuits in this area. Further, I was responsible for investigating service issues, designing solutions to these issues, and working with linemen to ensure that these solutions were implemented.
