Responsible for restructuring of RiksTV product and technology developement organization and ways of working (including main strategic partners) based on agile/lean values and principle. Main motivation and effect goals of the transition has been to increase the organizations adaptability to the increasingly rapid changes in the media marked and user behavior, speed of execution and learning across the organization. This resluted in a companywide embracement of agile values, principles and work methods. The organization has rapidly transitioned from functional “siloes” and managed sub-departments to cross-functional, self-organizing and autonomous teams with agile steering and leadership structures based on servant leadership roles. In the new organization, I served both as agile coach for five cross functional product development teams and chief technology officer responsible for overall technology strategy across the organization.

Responsible for building out and scaling RiksTV streaming platform and connected customer base in line with our strategic goals. Having historically had the majority of our development and operational activities outsourced to various strategic partners as turn key projects and contracts, we saw the need to change our development and sourcing strategy as we were not making necessary progress on our strategic goals. Same time our closest competitors and new entrants where launching new services and heavily investing in product development beyond our budgets. Main results achieved was a considerable change in way of sourcing and performing product development and the speed of change. The result has been an over 100% year on year growth in connected customers and streamed content and use of our products and services. During this period the internal development organization grew from 4 to 20 local developers in Oslo and a newly established subsidiary in Gdansk, Poland.

Responsible for managing department for both technical development and operations of the digital terrestrial distribution (DTT) platform, end user devices and services, and all IT and business related support systems. Main goal within this period was to build up technical and organizational capabilities through new and existing partners to enable RiksTV to expand its distribution platform and service offerings to streaming (i.e. IP based) distribution platforms and consumption devices. The main business goal being to increase content breadth and reach of existing DTT services to cater to new user consumption behavior and content demand (i.e. video on demand and video everywhere to any device). The desired commercial effect of the strategy was to enable higher subscription revenues (i.e. ARPU), maintain competitive advantage and prevent churn to other traditional pay-tv distributors and new disruptive streaming services.
