The Folsom Chamber of Commerce is a large regional chamber of 1,000+ members. The Folsom Chamber connects businesses to the community of Folsom and the greater Sacramento region through large local events.The Folsom Chamber hires event interns in preparation for the production of two major events: Folsom Pro Rodeo (22,000+ people) and TAP Folsom (2,500+). As a summer special events intern, my role primarily included:- Sponsorship Fulfillment: Responsible for understanding and fulfilling the contractual obligations with event sponsors. Handled the procurement, maintenance, and placement of event sponsor’s marketing material.- Volunteer Program: Acted as a first point of contact for over 500 community volunteers. Handled communication, sign ups, placement and supervision of volunteers in a wide variety of event roles. - Customer Service: Regularly handled a high volume of customer phone inquiries, walk in traffic and social media interaction with customers, business partners and members. Demonstrated good judgment, problem solving skills and ability to handle difficult situations.- Team Experience: Worked on a daily basis with a multi-disciplinary team including operations, logistics, marketing and event managers. Able to balance multiple demands and create strong relationships with co-workers operating under event deadlines.The Folsom Chamber internship provided me with the opportunity to observe managerial practices. I also received training and experience in marketing, advertising, sales, and operations management.
