I initiated and directed the Camp Invention Summer Camp in the Quad Cities. I supervised four teachers, dozens of volunteers, and an assistant director, who all served 75 kids each summer for a week long summer camp.

As a STEAM Coordinator, I have developed skills in writing curriculum and working with teachers to better their craft through the implementation of NGSS. This involves planning and leading professional development, assisting in planning and delivering curriculum, as well as modelling the teaching of NGSS in classrooms. I have taught almost every grade from kindergarten to AP Chemistry.

I planned and delivered instruction in Physics, Honors Physics, AP Physics, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Astronomy, Astronomy II, and Biology. I also served as the science team leader for several years and participated in many committees in the building, at the district level, and across the state of Iowa.

For several summers, I worked with the High Energy Particle Physics group at the University of Iowa on their research into the materials testing and selection for the HF detector at CMS in CERN, Switzerland. I began taking high school students along to work in the lab as well. I also planned and facilitated bi-yearly week-long workshops for teachers across the state to help increase their comfort level with high energy particle physics. Much of this later work revolved around teachers' ability to include particle physics concepts in their NGSS aligned curriculum.

I was asked to serve as a master teacher for two teacher professional development programs at the University of Northern Iowa. I worked directly with university faculty to plan, develop, and deliver a two-week workshop during the summer. I also served as a pedagogical and content specialist to teachers across Iowa during the school year.
