I was born with a desire to tinker with and build computers. The versatility and adaptability of computers has always amazed me but being able to program a computer to solve something for you is one of the most fascinated things to me. From the basic mathematics, to the complex code, my interested was sparked early on and it launched me into my career path of software development. Computer Science has allowed me to expand my problem solving and critical thinking abilities through courses such as computer security, algorithm design and object-oriented programming. While working towards my computer science degree, I was given the opportunity to work as a classroom assistant at a local elementary school. During this time, I saw how important it was for students to develop critical thinking and mathematics skills. I was able to develop and implement several coding-based classroom activities designed to help students become more comfortable and confident in their critical and computational thinking abilities. Seeing the students succeed in areas they once felt challenged in drove me to pursue a double major in Learning Leadership and Literacy. I am excited to combine these passions to not only teach but also empower the next generation of students to ask questions, explore and learn more about the world around them.
