About Christopher Maclean
I am a full-stack web developer exploring the field in the Northern Virginia area and remote work opportunities. My most recent experience is with web application development using Java and the Vaadin framework, as well as extensive RESTful API development. I am experienced with Amazon Web Services and in November 2016 became an AWS Certified Associate Developer.I am also 2012 graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Aerospace Engineering, with a focus on space systems.Java proficient -- The codebase at Perthera is almost entirely Java and makes use of the Vaadin framework for front-end web applications. Back-end RESTful web services are written using the Jersey framework. Over 99% of my work at Perthera is done in one of these two categories, and so I have become proficient in both.Javascript experienced -- There is a small sliver of the Perthera codebase for an auxiliary project that is written in Javascript. While this project is not something I work on every day, it has taught me a lot about how to use Javascript for an enterprise-level application. I consider myself experienced with Javascript. Fortran77 and Fortran90/95 experienced -- while working at Metispace Technologies, I implemented numerous mathematical algorithms using these languages. These include an antenna pointing-angles algorithm, a spacecraft attitude propagation algorithm, and more. This implementation, as well as finding and fixing bugs in others' implementations, was the biggest part of my work at Metispace.Python experienced -- I enjoy solving problems on Project Euler using Python for rapid, readable, powerful results. I also have implemented a utility bill storage and notification system deployed on my local network with a Raspberry Pi.
