Contributed to development of GridStar Flow Energy Storage system for affordable and long duration electricity storage. Tasks included running tests to prove mechanical and electrical durability of cell hardware, supporting testing of regeneration cell used to maintain charge balance between electrolytes, and developing and executing screening process for comparison of various electrodes.

Assisted students with assignments involving computer coding (C++ and MATLAB), wiring (Arduino), autoCAD, and Solidworks. Also helped students complete end-of-course assignments by fabricating components for their projects using both 3D printers and common power tools.

Contributed to projects involving development of a lithium-phosphorene battery as well as an inexpensive, paper and graphene supercapacitor. Tasks for the former included synthesizing black phosphorous from red phosphorous to be used as the electrode in the proposed cell, as well as constructing coin cells to be tested. Tested various phosphor types and combinations to achieve high color rendering index (CRI) values while also observing tunable correlated color temperature (CCT). Common tasks included aiding in synthesizing various phosphors using tube furnaces, analyzing data sets in excel, and discussing theory with other lab members to guide path forward.
