I recently worked for CBS Corp. in the Audience Services Department. My primary responsibilities dealt with receiving viewer feedback from four major CBS News programs: 60 Minutes, 48 Hours, Face the Nation and CBS News Sunday Morning. Noticing and reporting popular trends from our viewers was a critical aspect of the position that allowed us to better analyze how our audience felt about CBS News programs. I was also tasked with answering viewer queries regarding the programming that requires persistent internet and internal database research. Weekly reports on viewer feedback was required. The position necessitated that I remained vigilant and up to date on the latest domestic and international news stories.

I wrote feature articles that were published for the readers of Westchester, Putnam and Rockland Counties. I conveyed each story in a professional and creative fashion as each story was thoroughly edited and reviewed and written under a strict deadline, which proved to be valuable experience. I also wrote breaking news stories on a deadline, including detailed accounts of house fires and a bank robbery. These were stories that needed to get out to the public as quickly and accurately as possible and I was pleased with my balance of accuracy and alacrity. Being a staff writer for The Journal News allowed me to harness and enhance my journalistic writing talents and greatly helped develop a unique interviewing style which can only be obtained with real world experience. It was an environment in which I thrived and the lessons learned from my experience I will carry with me wherever I go.
