Lead North American manufacturing operations (US and Canada) for this industry leader in manufacturing, steel fabrication, and material transformation with annual sales of $350MM. Manage $10MM annual capital budget for US, Canada, and Europe. Managed three manufacturing facilities at this sales contract manufacturer of metal stampings, fabrications, weldments, and assemblies for numerous industries. Processes included: stamping, laser, plasma and oxyfuel cutting, CNC machining, turret presses, press breaking, robotic and manual welding, wet and powder painting, and assembly. Responsible for defining and implementing company strategy and holding managers and supervisors accountable for outcomes. Six direct reports and three hundred eighty indirect reports. Vice President of Operations (Jun 2001 to May 2005), Lebanon, MO Director of Operations (Oct 1998 to Jun 2001) Successfully implemented lean manufacturing tools, including: standard work, TPM, 5S, and SMED. Realized improvements in most areas of production, quality, and delivery times, including: improved quality from over 2000 PPM (Parts Per Million) to less than 500 PPM, a 44% improvement in machine scheduled up-time, a rise in on-time deliveries to major customers that rose from 62% to over 95%, and an increase of 12 percentage points in EBITDS (earnings before taxes, depreciation, and amortization). The organization also achieved the highest tier supplier status with all major customers. Key participant in subsequent acquisition of Industrial Tool and Fabrication (ITF) and later served as General Manager of ITF. One of four managers to participate in a management buyout of the company.

Provided management oversight for all phases of operation for this $25MM sales fabricator of aluminum extrusion assemblies for the heavy truck industry. Maintained oversight for two facilities. Oversaw processes in stamping, bending, welding and assembly. Implemented lean tools such as standard work and visual factory management. Redesigned a major sub-assembly for a customer that significantly improved reliability and repeatability for the assembly process. Eight direct reports and two hundred forty indirect reports. Creation of the new sub-assembly for a customer resulted in a subsequent award of $3.5MM in annual new business for the company. Initiated a Six Sigma process improvement program that resulted in Cpk improvement (process capability index) of critical components from less than 1.33 to better than 2.67. Trained as a Six Sigma Champion, and three team members were certified Black Belts, two as Green Belts, and one as Six Sigma Lean Black Belt.
