Aiding in the restart of Ultreo under new capitalization and management by providing technical expertise on product fundamentals, intellectual property and engineering. Establishing a new manufacturing line using domestic and international partners. Executing clinical studies in support of DentistRx product efficacy and safety. Documenting scientific claims for marketing material.

Developed and executed a comprehensive research plan to transfer and refine a concept (ultrasound toothbrush) from an academic institution to a commercial organization. Supported and documented scientific claims for product efficacy and safety as the prototype evolved (Ultreo®). Coordinated research with several research organizations, both public and private. Participated in the corporate intellectual property and legal defense efforts. Authored and oversaw a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant, funded for $1.2M. Compiled research for and authored several research studies for publication.

Worked with multidisciplinary teams to meet the clinical testing needs of product innovation, development and marketing (Sonicare®). Coordinated research domestically and internationally. Analyzed new techniques and methods to quantitate efficacy and safety of oral hygiene products. Supported marketing and education effort by providing scientific foundation of oral hygiene products at corporate symposia, tradeshows, and press releases.

Developed and implemented a successful initial clinical and laboratory research plan in support of a sonic toothbrush (Sonicare®) within first few years of product launch. Helped support company’s intellectual property and claims defense. Led project team for successful development of alternate brush head designs. Investigated sonic vibrations as a means to disperse and/or damage oral bacteria in the oral cavity. This research project included constructing an apparatus for the generation of sonic vibrations, investigating methods of quantifying low-frequency sonic energy, developing assays (ELISA) for the detection of bacteria adherent to a model tooth surface, and analyzing exposed bacteria for damage via electron microscopy.
