Supporting and developing upgrades, integrations, and new features for CMS used to power Newsday.com and various mobile and other app-based experiences.Supporting and developing for mobile apps for iPhone/android by integrating webservices, as well as using Xcode and Objective-C at times to upgrade and squash bugs in our apps.

Wrote and supported code for a multitude of uses throughout the lifecycle of commodity trading & delivery software for multiple clients, using programming languages such as C, C++, C#/.NET, Java, and MS SQL/Oracle, while using Visual Studio 2008, 2010, and Eclipse to write code and debug software. Created new functionality through enhancements and worked to troubleshoot issues and resolve bugs in software, working both internally amongst fellow developers, business analysts, and members of the support team, as well as externally, directly with clients. Worked with multiple areas of programming including object-oriented aspects, creating structures, developing and customizing GUI windows, manipulating grid dispatch services, creating and maintaining stored procedures, as well as numerous other areas.Supported multiple areas of the development and delivery lifecycle, including gathering requirements and reading/writing specs, designing and refining solutions to problems, testing, the pardon process, and merging/maintaining code using repository systems such as CVS and SVN.

Used AVS scripting language and Java to write programs involving reports that listed trading instruments such as bonds, swaps, and commodities and various associated information such as simulation results and associated risk. Gained experience writing programs that created GUIs, exported information to CSV files, generated Crystal Reports including trading confirmations and invoices, changed and updated information on transactions and instruments using object-oriented programming principles, and manipulated database tables using SQL. Participated in many phases of programming for clients including gathering requirements, script writing, debugging, testing, and fixing bugs in code. Frequently used SQL to query trade information from database tables, move information between tables, and save information to database tables for later use. Used SQL in Oracle, Sybase, and MS SQL databases. Worked on-site for clients developing interfaces to process trades, create new trades and schedules for power and commodity trades, asses risk for trades based on simulation results, and generate reports based on information queried from database tables. Learned mechanics of a trading system involving booking trades, reporting techniques, business unites and legal entities, party agreements, market curves, and measuring risk.
