I have obtained an Associate in Applied Science degree in Zoological Science Technology from Davidson County Community College in Lexington, NC and am seeking an opportunity to utilize the knowledge I have gained in the professional field, internships and the classroom and apply it to a professional experience with your organization. The knowledge I have gained through education along with experience working with various captive species has provided me with the necessary skills needed for proper animal husbandry, operant conditioning, diet preparation, and exhibit maintenance. I also have experience in assisting with routine veterinary procedures, administering prescribed medications, record keeping, and developing and implementing enrichment programs. I have an understanding and appreciation for different animal behaviors across various captive species. Through professional experiences, I have obtained a thorough understanding of proper animal capture and restraint, weighing, obtaining fecal samples, palpations, sexing and weighing of infants, and observation and recording of reproductive cycles. I have also gained experience in caring for geriatric individuals and administering fluids, special diets, and medications as well as assisting with euthanasia. I have always had a strong desire to work with both domestic and non-domestic animals and have made every possible attempt to work with as many species as possible. With the professional experience I have gained in many aspects of animal husbandry along with my previous experience at Walt Disney World, in the military and working in large teams, I know I have the heart and discipline needed to be an asset to any team. If given the opportunity, my priority would be in the health, safety, and psychological stimulation of the animals in my care through daily enrichment as well as creating a cohesive team environment through effective communication with all staff. I would also make it a priority to interact with guests in order to instill an appreciation and respect for the natural world around us.
